Reconstruction ProjectBuild a state-of-the-art, self-sustainable religious center for worship, community engagement and outreach that will meet the needs of students and community members for decades to come.
We’re proud that the University of Texas at Austin is ranked as one of the top colleges in the US. We’re also proud that Nueces Mosque was the first mosque in Austin and for nearly 45 years has served both UT students and the broader Austin Muslim community.
But can you believe that during this time, the 100+ year-old building has remained fundamentally unchanged, yet we rely on it to support our ever growing community and programs.
A team of UT students, alumni, and community leaders are working hard to reconstruct Nueces. Most of our efforts over the past few years have gone into establishing a structured governance model and making sure this project is feasible. Our focus and priority this year is to scale our capital campaign and start formal design and engineering work.
