Friday, May 7, Nueces Masjid will be hosting the very First Annual Cook-Off!!!!

Sisters will sign up into teams of 2-5 and need to able to cook/bake a 3 course meal (appetizer, entree, dessert) within 2 hours. 30 minutes will be alotted in addition to these two hours in order to clean up and head your food back to the masjid from wherever you are. We are going to be using the kitchens in Quarters Nueces House, However, if you are uncomfortable with that idea, you are more then welcome to use your own kitchen. We just want to give some convenience in case you don't live very close to the Masjid since only 30 minutes will be given to clean up and head your food back. 

Sign-Ups are from now till May 1, Saturday 11:59 pm. Message Sr. Pari Wafayee with you and your teams' names, phone numbers, e-mail address, and preference in either cooking in your own kitchen or borrowing someone's in Quarters so it is closer. Sr. Pari will also be passing out a sign-up sheet at Juma'a, Tafsir class and the Halaqa. EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE!

By May 4, Tuesday, the sisters need to submit your entire recipes to Sr. Pari because 1) NUECES MASJID WILL TRY OUR HARDEST TO PROVIDE ALL THE INGREDIENTS and 2) We think it would be wonderful to compile a mini-cookbook for all our participants!

After 2nd Juma'a, we are going to divide into our teams and head out to the kitchens. Cook-Off begins at 3:30 pm. By 6 pm, your team and your food must be at the Masjid ready to be presented. Failure to be punctual will result in a deduction of points. Your food will be judged based on a sheet that Sr. Pari will send. As the judging is taking place, we will line up the food and feast!

On May 7th, Friday late afternoon Nueces Mosque will be hosting a tournament AND a BBQ! Join us at Manor Masjid after Jum'ah ready to play. No preparations of teams is necessary, just show up on site and we will put the teams together for you and afterwords, we will provide a BBQ dinner, inshallah.
