MSA Tafsir Class with Shaykh IslamWe read the Qur'an everyday but do we really understand what we are reading? Do we know the stories or meanings behind the ayahs? To learn the history, stories, meanings behind various surahs and ayahs, join us every Thursday at 8 pm on the 5th floor of the Union. Imam Islam will guide us through the tafsir of the Qur'an, inshAllah. Imam Islam is an Austin native who graduated from UT and is now the imam of NAMCC, the largest mosque in Austin. IDF LecturesEvery Monday after 'Isha, the Islamic Dawah Foundation of UT will be giving lectures on various topics and issues about the basics and the history of Islam. Insha Allah we will all be able to benefit from this knowledge by reflecting over it and applying it in our daily lives in order to become better and more knowledgeable Muslims. So please come and check out what the lectures have to offer! Day: Every Monday
Tajweed Class with Brother Abdul AzeemDo you have trouble reciting the Qu'ran? Do you wish to learn how to recite better and more fluently? Join us on Wednesdays after Maghrib to practice your recitation and learn the rules on how to recite properly with Brother Abdul Azeem. The classes will have both brothers and sisters with the sisters spending the first class with Brother Abdul Azeem, followed by the brothers. Brother Abdul Azeem is an active member of NAMCC and often gives khutbahs there and at Nueces Mosque. Day: Every Wednesday
MSA Sahaba TalksThe Sahaba - who were these men and women around the prophet (pbuh)? Do we really know who they were? What were they like? Why should we even care? Is there any benefit for us today from studying their lives hundreds of years ago? Every Tuesday, students from the MSA gather to discuss the answers to the questions above. Each week, someone will lead and moderate a discussion about a certain sahabi or sahabiya whose life contains lessons that we can draw from and incorporate into our own. Day: Every Tuesday
MSA HalaqasThe main event of most weeks for the MSA. At these weekly group discussions, MSA members contribute their thoughts and feelings on different Islamic topics. Halaqas will also usually have a speaker to share their knowledge with us and moderate the discussion. Refreshments, such as cookies and milk, are served after each Halaqa. The halaqas during Ramadan include an iftaar as well. Day: Every Friday
