Volunteering with CAFB (Ongoing Event)

Nueces Mosque and the MSA volunteer once a month at the Capital Area Food Bank.

The next volunteer opportunity is Saturday, November 21st from 12:45pm - 4:00pm. Insha'Allah, we will meet at Nueces Mosque at 11:50am, and then carpool over to CAFB.

Shawwal Iftaars

Nueces Mosque will insha'Allah be providing free iftaars on Mondays and Thursdays, throughout the month of Shawwal!

With Ramadan ending, one of the challenges that we face now is to try to learn from our experiences in Ramadan, and continue forward with all the changes that we made. What better way to carry forward our habits than by fasting the recommended six days in the month of Shawwal? As the Prophet (SAWS) told us:

“Whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with six days from Shawwal it is as if they fasted the entire year.” [Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, and Ibn Majah; Ahmad transmitted it from Jabir, Muntaqa]

Everybody please come out and join us for iftaar/dinner - even if you're not able to fast on that day, you're more than welcome to drop by and share a meal with everyone at the masjid.

Ramadan will be over soon, but that doesn't mean the experience and the reward has to stop!

So you know what to do!

Mondays and Thursday:
Eat good (and free) food.
Enjoy good company.
Pray at the House of Allah (swt).

Fasting after Ramadan has never been this much fun.

The first Iftaar will be on Thursday, the 24th of September, insha'Allah.

First Annual Open House

In order to strengthen the Muslim bond with the Austin community, Nueces Mosque cordially invites Muslims and Non Muslims alike to our First Annual Open House. Join us as we explain some of the basics of the religion of Islam, address common misconceptions, and explore some of the most prevalent questions being asked around the world.

We will be discussing topics ranging from "What is Islam" and "Who are Muslims" to "What does Islam say about Terrorism" and "Why do Muslim women veil themselves?"

Dawah Workshop

“Invite to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and fair preaching” [Quran 16:125]

MSA and Nueces Mosque invite you to attend our dawah workshop! Learn the basics of dawah and how to effectively answer common questions about the religion of Islam. This will be an interactive workshop so be prepared to role-play!

Brothers Barbecue

Brothers, please come out and join your fellow Muslim brothers for our end-of-the-semester social event. Nueces Mosque will be hosting a barbeque -- halal hot dogs, burgers, chicken, etc.-- this Saturday, April 25th between Maghrib and 'Isha. Come pray in the house of Allah, hang out with your friends, and eat free food before everyone starts burying themselves in their textbooks!

Sisters picnic

Sisters, you also have the opportunity to come out and enjoy the company of your fellow Muslim sisters for the upcoming social event! The Muslim Students Association will be organizing an outdoors day for sisters; the plan is to meet up at the masjid at 9:30am, carpool to Lady Bird Lake for kayaking, and then conclude with a potluck picnic at Zilker Park. Please remember to bring cash so that everyone can pay for the kayaking easily. The rental rates per hour are:

Single kayak: $10
Double kayak: $15
Triple kayak: $20

Also, please do note that the lunch will be a potluck, so make sure to bring something (brownies, cookies, chips, etc.).
